NYC APOLLO ALLIANCE

The NYC Apollo Alliance is part of a bold national movement that links job creation, environmental stewardship, and energy independence led by the national Apollo Alliance.

NYC Apollo believes a visionary investment in advanced technologies, high performance building, and job training will create thousands of new jobs, increase worker productivity, and build a cleaner, healthier environment.

An agenda that links growth, health, and security goals with creative solutions will lead New Yorkers into a new economy, reduce our dependency on foreign oil and gas, and further strengthen our vibrant communities.

We bring unions, environmentalists and environmental justice advocates, businesses, educators, and community-based organizations together to reframe political debates, build new alliances, and implement a compelling policy agenda for social change. NYC Apollo recognizes that the future of our city depends on a broad coalition working jointly to achieve positive social, economic, and environmental goals.

NYC Apollo hopes to influence the way New York City is powered in the years ahead by supporting public policy that promotes energy efficiency, alternative energy, good jobs, economic development, and environmental equity. Our city is at a point of transition. We have an opportunity to build "high-road" growth strategies that create good jobs, improve the health of our neighborhoods, and strengthen our existing energy systems while decreasing the demand for energy from traditional sources. Adoption of the NYC Apollo vision will ensure that NYC remains a world class city.

The NYC Apollo Ten Point Plan for a Strong Economy and Healthy City is our strategy for creating jobs, changing energy supply and demand, and improving the environment. By implementing the Ten Point Plan, NYC will foster a market for energy efficiency, high performance buildings, and other green technologies while developing training programs to ensure a ready workforce and identifying innovative financing models and incentives to minimize costs.

For instance, if New York City invests in the creation and retrofitting of energy efficient, high performance buildings and infrastructure, we can create a century of good jobs for our city's workers, reduce the need for traditional sources of energy, and improve environments inside our buildings and in our communities, worker health and productivity, and student performance.
